We are a body of Christians
in Springfield, Ohio whose emphasis is on loving God and showing
God's love to others. You will notice that our name only has one
capital letter in it. It is God whom we are focused on. We're not much into
personal titles, labels and making distinctions among us. Rather
than being an incorporated institutional church, we are an
organic body of believers. We recognize
that we are all equal brothers and sisters in Christ and we
operate in a
shared
leadership manner.
We selected the name new covenant church of God
because it best describes who we are and what we represent.
First, we are thankful for the new covenant that God has brought
about for His people. The old covenant, found in the Old Testament, failed to
consistently bring man into a lasting and personal relationship
with God. It was about keeping laws and commandments. The new
covenant, found throughout the New Testament, is about having a
personal relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. In the
middle of these two covenants is the cross. What a
wonderful Saviour is Jesus Our Lord!
Secondly, we chose
church of God, because this represents the
fact that we have been called out of a life of sin and we now
gather together as God's people. He owns us and we are not our
own. We do not view this expression as a mere title, but rather
as a complete privilege to come together as a people of God! A called
out assembly of saints. What a
wonderful Heavenly Father!
We assemble ourselves throughout the week in various ways.
Typically, on
Sunday mornings and evenings, we meet at a rented conference
room at the Marriott Inn, in downtown Springfield, Ohio. Our
meetings start at 10:30 AM and 6:00 PM. These gatherings are
quite informal and are a representation of the organic manner in which
the church met, as described in the New Testament. We
strive to allow the Holy Spirit to lead our meetings, each
member edifying each other through the gifts of the Spirit. On
Wednesdays, we meet in homes or in other locations. These meetings start at 7:00 PM.
We also are involved in several other ministries,
including conducting services at a local health care facility.
Everyone is welcome to any of our
meetings.
