We are a non-denominational body of Christians
in Springfield, Ohio whose emphasis is on loving God and showing
God's love to others. We're not much into
personal titles, labels and making distinctions among ourselves.
We consider ourselves more of a family than an organization. Rather
than being an incorporated institutional church, we are an
organic body of believers. We recognize
that we are all equal brothers and sisters in Christ and we
operate in a
shared
leadership manner.
While we put little to no focus on a name or title, we use the name new covenant church of God
because it best describes who we are and what we represent.
You will notice that this phrase has only one capital letter in
it. It is God whom we are focused on. We are also thankful for the new covenant that God has brought
about for His people. The old covenant, found in the Old Testament, failed to
consistently bring man into a lasting and personal relationship
with God. It was about keeping laws and commandments. The new
covenant, found throughout the New Testament, is about having a
personal relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. In the
middle of these two covenants is the cross. What a
wonderful Saviour is Jesus Our Lord!
Secondly,
the expression "church of God" is used because this represents the
fact that we have been called out of a life of sin and we now
gather together as God's people. He owns us and we are not our
own. We do not view this expression as a mere title, but rather
as a complete privilege to come together as a people of God! A called
out assembly of God's family. What a
wonderful Heavenly Father!
We assemble ourselves throughout the week in various ways.
We have chosen not to acquire a building or chapel because our
is purpose is to go out into the world with the Gospel rather
than call people into a specific building and also because we
chose not to incur unnecessary temporal expenses. We gather in houses, parks, rest homes, rented conference rooms,
and just about anywhere we came all come together. These
gatherings are quite informal and organic in nature. We strive to allow the Holy Spirit to lead our
meetings in all things, each member edifying each other through the
ministering gifts of
the Spirit.
Everyone is welcome to any of our
meetings. Please
contact us in advance regarding our meeting locations as it
changes from time to time.
